Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one email address, but to look as being sent from a different one, often with the idea to scam the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, an exclusive record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers globally get it. The record contains all mail servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and when the sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. In case, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the specified domain, the e-mail message won't be sent and it will be discarded. When you use this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam that seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain hosted in a website hosting account on our cloud platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our advanced Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to activate it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down list and enter the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be certified to send emails from your emails. As an added option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution will give you the highest degree of protection, but it's not applicable if only your website is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are handled in a different place. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, that is included with all of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, provides you with an extremely user-friendly interface to activate the SPF security service for every domain that you host in your new account. A couple of clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that and you will only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be allowed to send messages from your email addresses. In case the e-mails are taken care of by us and not by another provider, you're able to increase the protection level even more and take advantage of an option for the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domains feature our MX records. This option provides you with increased control and it will eliminate any chance of anyone counterfeiting your e-mails with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable in case only your website is hosted on our advanced cloud website hosting platform, while your e-mail addresses are managed by another service provider. If you are not sure what features to select, our technical support team will assist you 24/7.
